Amber Nelson, PsyD
Amber Nelson is a licensed clinical psychologist with a specialization in pediatrics and chronic medical conditions. She graduated with her degree in Clinical Psychology from George Fox University, where she later served as an Associate level faculty member and Director of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. Dr. Nelson completed her doctoral internship in pediatric psychology with Harvard Medical School at Boston Children’s Hospital and a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship with Johns Hopkins School of Medicine at Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, Maryland, where she also later served as staff psychologist.
Dr. Nelson is passionate about supporting kids and their families in all stages of life using patient-centered and culturally-specific care. Using a Biopsychosociocultural approach to care Dr. Nelson seeks to support individuals manage their physical, mental, emotional, behavioral health in ways that both meet their needs and center their values. She has a certification in ADHD treatment and Ecopsychology and enjoys working the full range of child and adolescent behavioral health concerns (e.g. anxiety, depression, transitions, behavioral concerns, medical treatment adherence, procedure preparation, neurodiverse strategies, etc.). She is an avid Disney fan, collector and wearer of festive holiday sweaters, and an enthusiastic celebrator (she hasn’t met a theme she can’t enjoy)! In her spare time you can find Dr. Nelson going to the movies, spending time outside, attending various cultural events, trying out new and fun activities, going to live sporting events, spending time with her family or spending time with youth from her nonprofit For Us, By Us Kinship Coalition.
