Behavioral Health

Our Philosophy

At The Children’s Clinic, we believe that mental health is an essential component of overall well-being and are committed to providing comprehensive and compassionate care for the emotional and behavioral health of children and their families.

Our behavioral health program is grounded in a holistic approach that recognizes the interconnectedness of physical, emotional, and social factors. We embrace an integrated care model, which involves collaboration between primary care providers and mental health professionals to offer a seamless coordinated care experience.

ADHD Diagnostic Evaluations

Our team of licensed psychologists also provide evaluations for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) for children 6 to 16 years old through our weekly ‘ADHD Diagnostic Clinic’. If you are a parent who is concerned your child may have ADHD, please complete parent and teacher screening measure  (listed below) and give them to your child’s primary care provider, who will work with you to determine if further testing is warranted.

Need for long term mental health services

Sometimes children require more ongoing care than our short-term model allows. We understand that establishing with a long-term mental health provider can be a frustrating process and we want you to know, you are not alone in this process. The good news is that a referral to a behavioral health provider is typically not required. Please see our list of local mental health clinics in the greater Portland area (included below) for help getting started. You can also contact your insurance provider to ask for a list of in-network mental health providers. Getting on multiple wait lists can often help people find the right fit sooner.
