My favorite thing about being a pediatrician is getting to know my patients and witnessing their identities develop as they grow. I like to use creative problem solving to help find solutions that work best for individual patients and families. I believe in supporting my patients with recommendations built on a foundation of evidence, while considering the unique circumstances of each situation.
I grew up in Eugene, Oregon as the youngest of three girls. I was an active kid and spent my childhood years trying to keep up with my older sisters, which led to many cuts, bumps, and bruises. Luckily, having a mom who was a pediatrician meant that most of the time the bandaging and stitching-up could be done at home. In the summers my family loved spending time outside together swimming, hiking, and backpacking.
After attending Smith College in Massachusetts, where I learned that snow might not be for me, I was thrilled to return to Oregon for medical school. I always had it in the back of my mind that pediatrics might be a good fit. As I went through medical school I found working with families and taking care of children and adolescents to be the most rewarding and realized there is nothing else I would rather do.
My wife and I live in Portland with our sweet cat Trudy. We love to spend time with friends and family, hike, travel, and play board games. I am also close with my parents, sisters, and their partners, and I am very happy to say that now all of them live in Oregon!
Shared Practice
Every patient has a primary pediatrician. Sometimes, especially for last-minute appointments, your pediatrician may not have available appointments, so our pediatricians partner with each other to reduce wait times and improve access to care. Additionally, they partner with someone that complements their style and brings a fresh perspective to their patient’s care.
