We are excited to announce advanced treatment options for children experiencing unwanted weight gain, dyslipidemia (high triglyceride and/or cholesterol levels), and prediabetes. Our provider Dr. Susanne Purnell has recently become certified in Obesity Medicine, completed advanced training in lipid conditions, and is now offering her expertise to patients and their families.
Why is this important now?
Many chronic diseases of adulthood such as obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol, fatty liver, and heart disease have their origins in childhood. Dr. Purnell recognizes the importance of getting children on the right footing when risk runs high for these conditions.
What does Dr. Purnell offer that’s different?
While it is never too early to make healthy lifestyle improvements, Dr. Purnell understands that when these conditions emerge in youth, lifestyle alone may not be enough to fully manage them. With her advanced understanding of the underlying physiology regulating body weight, diabetes risk, and lipid levels, she can offer targeted screening and medical therapies to help her patients achieve their healthiest selves.
Do I need a referral to Dr. Purnell?
Dr. Purnell welcomes referrals but does not require that you have one to see her. You can simply call to make a new-patient appointment.
